About permanent hair removal
Candela G-Max Pro – Long Pulsed Nd:YAG
The GentleMax Pro Advantage: Faster. Greater Efficacy. More Versatility
The Lifestyle Clinic uses the “Rolls Royce” of laser hair removal machines – GentleMax Pro. This laser is a combination of the fastest and most powerful 755 nm Alexandrite laser with the 1064 nm long pulse ND:YAG laser. This provides us the capability to offer the best treatment for all skin types:
- The 755nm wavelength is used for laser hair removal on fairer to olive skin types
- The 1064nm wavelength is used for laser hair removal on olive to darker skin types
The GentleMax Pro is a single consolidated system that delivers a range of treatments – all skin type hair removal, as well as pigmented and vascular lesions. It is a high performing laser with excellent treatment capabilities in terms of speed, efficacy, ease-of-use, outstanding performance, safety and patient satisfaction.
Unlike other laser hair removal machines, GentleMax Pro has a patented Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) that provides consistent, epidermal cooling and unparalleled comfort for the patients. This balances the heat so there is not much discomfort. With this amazing technology, there won’t be any need for cooling gel, which tends to be a little messy when doing Full Bikini or Brazilian and Legs.
How it works
Laser hair removal works on the principle that the laser energy is more highly attracted to the hair than the skin. This preferentially heats the hair follicle to destroy the DNA that resides within it, whilst leaving the skin intact. The hair also dissipates this heat energy slower than the skin, which causes more heat to build up in the hair than the skin. Usually, multiple sessions are required to achieve the desired result – long term hair reduction.
How is IPL different from Medical Lasers?
IPL (or Intense Pulsed Light) is actually not a laser. It uses a broad spectrum of light unlike lasers like Diode, Alexandrite and ND:Yag that uses a single wavelength that effectively targets the melanin in our hair follicle. This allows concentrated target to the hair bulb that is the life source of the hair.
The terms ‘IPL’ and ‘laser’ are often mistakenly used interchangeably. Laser is more specific to a given target than IPL, and therefore is more effective than IPL and has fewer side effects and complications.
How many sessions are required for permanent hair reduction?
Since the hair growth cycle comes in 3 phases – Anagen (active phase), Catagen (Stagnant) and Telogen (Shedding); And Laser can only effectively target hair in the Anagen or Active phase; Patients are advised to undergo a series of 6 to 8 sessions depending on hair and skin type.
There are also many variables to consider, such as hormones, color of hair, stress, pregnancy, menopause, illness, increased blood supply, birth control pills, medication and the like that can affect the outcome of the laser treatment.
What are the benefits of GentleMax Pro Laser Hair Removal?
Aside from permanent hair reduction, it also improves the over all appearance of the patient’s skin, and helps with:

What to expect
Treatment times may vary depending on your specific needs. Hair growth is reduced after each treatment and the number of treatments required will be based on your hair color and type, body area and skin tone.
Candela’s Laser Hair Removal treatments use a patented Dynamic Cooling Device, which prepares the skin for treatment by spraying the upper layer with a cooling burst of cryogen in adjustable durations—milliseconds before the laser pulse. DCD helps ensure that the treatments are as comfortable as they are effective.
Precautions to take prior to treatment and aftercare
Avoid sun exposure at least two weeks before treatment. Wait for tanned skin to fade before beginning treatment.
Do not bleach, pluck or wax 4 to 6 weeks before and after treatment. You may shave the day before. Once your treatment series has begun, we urge you to completely stop both waxing and plucking.
After treatment, do not expose the area treated to sun, and always wear SPF 50+ and a hat if you go outside.
How Do We Treat This?
Well, a thorough understanding as to what is the cause of sagging is of utmost importance. In different people, it varies greatly as to the main contributing factors. In some, it may be mainly skin laxity, and in others, it would be volume loss. Many times, it is due to both, but at varying degrees. The understanding of why the skin sags for different individuals and its diagnosis is complex as much as it is important. Thus, the treatment would have to be tailored for each and every individual specific to his/her condition.
Treatment usually encompasses various products and treatment modalities such as BOTOX, Fillers, Lasers, Thread Lifts, RF, and Ultrasound.
