Oily Skin
Oily skin occurs due to over production of sebum (oil) via the sebaceous glands, which are found in the dermis layer of our skin. Apart from the palms and soles, sebaceous glands present throughout our body. Generally, adequate sebum production and secretion is vital in maintaining the moisture of our skin and hair. It also helps in forming a protective barrier by creating an acidic pH on the skin surface area. However, overproduction of sebum will lead to a series of skin problems such as clogged pores, greasiness and acne formation.
Hormonal changes are directly associated with oily skin as androgen hormone stimulates oil production. Therefore, any incident or event affecting our emotional status is also a causative factor due to its ability to alter our hormonal status.
Skin care products
Choosing the correct products is importing for treating oily skin. Beauty products that are non comedogenic are recommended in those suffer from oily skin. Cleansers with salicylic acid or alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) are preferred due to its ability to open up clogged pores and its keratolytic properties.
